"Harlequin, Servant of Two Masters", is a record show. It was staged in 40 countries and over 200 cities, with more than 2.600 performances and more than two and half million spectators. Far from becoming a "museum-show", Harlequin confirms its nature of "memory in action", being able to drag the viewer - as Strehler said - "in the empyrean of the great comedy, joyous anthem of liberation." The fact that, in over sixty years, the role of Harlequin has been mainly interpreted by two actors, Marcello Moretti and, since 1963, by Ferruccio Soleri (and, since a short time, some repeat performances were assigned to Enrico Bonavera), highlights its exceptional nature. Soleri, who is almost eighty now, is "Harlequin"; he managed to recreate the timeless energy of his character with an extraordinary scenic longevity.
